We offer a wide range of subjects online and in-home tutoring

11+

Several OxTutors have extensive experience in teaching 11+ English Maths, and Science, as well as verbal and non-verbal reasoning.

We have many mock exams and past papers to assist in revising for the 11+.

13+

13+ exams,  otherwise known as 'Common Entrance' and sat by Year 9 students, involve a wider range of subjects than the 11+. In addition to the core subjects outlined above, we have OxTutors that have specific experience in tutoring different subjects: including Latin , History, French and Religious Studies.

Biology (GCSE & A-Level)

At GCSE, there is the option to study Combined Science or Triple Science.

Triple Science requires an additional unit to be completed, and is often the most advanced learning in the course.

Our Biology OxTutors have all studied Science at University, and studied a range of science A-Levels themelves.

As a result, their conceptual scientific knowledge of genetics, cells and ecosystems is extremely advanced - but their tutoring experience means they can break down this knowledge easily to students.

Chemistry (GCSE & A-Level)

Chemistry is often regarded as the most complex subject out of all the sciences, and can feel intimidating!

Our OxTutors will give you memorable ways to remember the different elements, and how atoms work.

We will develop your practical skills when you come to conduct your own experiments both at GCSE and A-Level.

Classical Civilisation

Classical Civilisation is a fascinating subject to study at either GCSE or A-Level, giving students insight to a world that they have never learned about before.

Our OxTutor founder is a devoted Classicist herself, and has recruited the best Classics students from her own undergraduate course at Oxford. They will teach you passionately about Graeco-Roman epic tradition,  the dynasties of Roman emperors and Athenian democracy.

English (KS2 and KS3)

All GCSE exam-boards require students to develop a specific set of skills for  English Language GCSE.

OxTutors will provide students with many unseen extracts, in order to perfect the art of drawing inferences, as well as of identifying and analysing the effect of stylistic techniques in a text.

English Language
(GCSE & A-Level)

All GCSE exam-boards require students to develop a specific set of skills for  English Language GCSE.

English Literature
(GCSE & A-Level)

It is no secret that AQA, OCR and EdExcel require students to read and analyse a variety of challenging, dense texts.

Our English OxTutors are fervent readers themselves, but also  have  had several years of experience teaching the popular set text options, including Shakespeare's 'Macbeth', 'The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Dr. Hyde', 'A Christmas Carol' and the War and Conflict AQA Poetry Anthology.

French

By far the most popular language option for both schools and students at GCSE, our French OxTutors all studied the French language and French literature for 4 years at Oxford. This included a year abroad in France, where they immersed themselves in the language and lifestyle of the country.

This has made them effectively fluent speakers, and the perfect tutors to assist you with your speaking and writing exams.

German

As with French, we have several OxTutors who studied German for 4 years, including a year abroad.

Their rigorous understanding of grammar, as well as in-depth knowledge of German literature, will help you study this language at any level.

History

History is possibly the richest and most diverse subject we can study, but success in this subject requires a strong command of both writing skills and exam technique.

We can teach you the process of analysing a source, to understanding how significant events in history link to one another.

We provide History tuition at all levels: from young learners at primary school, all the way to university level.

Latin

Despite common misconceptions that Latin is inaccessible and irrelevant to the modern world, translating Latin is a valuable logic game. Just like Maths, this subject can sharpen our mind, making us acutely aware of small details. Progressing in Latin also deepens our vocabulary in English, thanks to etymology.

Law

Studying law allows us to objectively  deconstruct both sides of an argument. In examining the English legal system, we can recognise the rights and duties we have as British citizens.

We are more than competent to offer tutoring for A-Level Law, as well as the 6 core subjects of the LLB: contract, tort, land, crime, constitutional law and the law of trusts.

Our Law OxTutors are all Law (Jurisprudence) Oxford students or graduates. They have extensive knowledge of case-law and jurisprudential theory.

Maths

Although Maths is considered the most puzzling subject of all, we believe this often stems from low confidence.

Our Maths team have all tutored over 100 hours in Maths, from 11+ to A-Level Further Maths. They love showing students that they are able to work out the challenge before them, and that problem solving itself is fun!

Music

We offer bespoke Music tuition, with OxTutors who studied Music at University and have since had colourful careers in both teaching and performance.

They are able to assess, and assist you with, your musical performance, as well as musical theory and the rules of composition.

Oxbridge Applications

We offer a comprehensive coaching programme to  Oxbridge applicants. This involves conducting research projects 1:1 to deepen your subject knowledge beyond the A Level curricula, as well as frequent interview practice.

Personal Statement

Subject-specific OxTutors  provide feedback sessions for every stage of the drafting process. We suggest further reading and research areas to improve your personal statement for UCAS applications.

Portugese

Despite not being commonly offered at school, OxTutors, who studied this language for 4 years, can teach budding linguists a challenging yet rewarding language, which is spoken from Brazil to Angola.

Religious Studies

Studying religion helps us understand how we feel and think. When learning about world religions, we see how humanity has always had spirituality and faith.

Our OxTutors which tutor Religious Studies studied Philosophy or Theology at the University of Oxford. We offer this subject at GCSE and A-Level (Philosophy and Ethics, or Philosophy as a sole A-Level subject).

Science (KS2 and KS3)

We know that science can feel like a big challenge to our younger learners. We aim to teach fundamental scientific principles, so that students can access foundational knowledge for understanding the physical, biological and chemical world around them.

Spanish

One of the most spoken languages in the world, Spanish is an extremely fun language to learn.

Our OxTutors are all fluent in this language and have, as with the other modern languages outlined above, lived in a Spanish-speaking country as part of their undergraduate degree to immerse themselves in language and culture.
